From 11 to 19 October of 2023, Samsung Electronics Mexico, S.A. de C.V., disabled mobile devices because the company considered they were acquired in Mexico in what they call a grey market, thus, illegally depriving a great number of persons from using their devices.
So much has been established by the Mexican consumer protection agency Procuraduría Federal del Consumidor (PROFECO) and the telecomunications authority Instituto Federal de Telecomunicaciones (IFT) as you may verify in the following link: PROFECO / IFT Report.
If you were affected by these measures, we consider you are eligible for a monetary compensation that must be sought by means of a class action against Samsung in Mexico. Aside from your mobile's device brand being Samsung, you need to fulfill the following requirements: a) Your mobile device to have been disabled by Samsung Electronics Mexico past October 2023; b) For you to have legally acquired your device from a legally established vendor, whether in a store or online; c) For you to have bought a new device; d) For you to have register of your order to the vendor; e) For you to have the receipt, invoice or other means of proving your payment for the device; and f) For you to still have the device. If you can provide means in order to prove your device was disabled, it would be of much use, however we don't consider it to be indispensible. A picture of your device's screen while it was disabled, for example, would be means to prove this fact. If you think you fulfill the abovementioned requirements, please read our legal notices. What to expect?

We estimate at least a 20% compensation for each affected user, calculated from the purchase price of each individual device. Galván Law will collect fees from its clients according to articles 616 and following of Código Federal de Procedimientos Civiles (Federal Civil Procedures Code for Mexico) upon defendant's payment. The only expenditures we forsee for each client is the cost of parcel or postal services of sending documents to our office.
